Disk that vineyard Dude!
Well this old man got on his tractor and disked the 2 foot tall weeds down under. The bugs hate it but the soil loves getting back what the weeds take from it. This is my way of giving back. I also noticed that the soil was darker in color than normal and it wasn't from the rains last week. It was from the large amount of turkey manure that I put down last November. So the soil is ready to do its thing and give back to the grape vines what is needed. We also sprayed the vines with a blend of cinnamon, peppermint, thyme, clove and citric acid to stop the threat of mildew on the grape clusters. This is the first time I used these products which have been donated by Monterey Chemical Group for the organics division. We are also testing other products which will be added to the soil to kill some bad bugs that collect in the roots of the grapes. The weather has changed and we are in the late spring warm cycle, about 80 degrees today. Next chore will be the last weed whacking around the vines.
